With both 2D and stylized animation being on an upswing after ‘Klaus’ and ‘Into the Spider-verse’, the timing couldn’t be better for us to finally show what we can do. One fan-based video of how Klaus was created was viewed over half a million times, long before the film had its release and success.  ‘Insider’ also created a video on the topic receiving over a million views. Spider-Verse had videos created by both ‘Insider’ and ‘Wired’ receiving three and two million views. 

Now the secret is out on how ‘Klaus’ was created. So we now know we can do plenty of things their techniques can’t. With our techniques being a type of pixel based compositing, there is a lot less physical labor behind each shot. And it doesn’t matter if the input comes from 2D or 3D. We are therefore super excited to pull the curtains on our tech! 

As our techniques are quite computing heavy, we wanted to see if you are interested in a collaboration before we start releasing the material.

PINKUU

Our own character we have developed for short and fun content in social media. She also serves as a playground to test new techniques on animations that won’t take too long to create. We have loose plans to take her further with something bigger. But haven’t decided just where yet.

FAGFORBUNDET

A commercial for Norway’s biggest union that we haven’t released yet. It was the first project where ALL lighting was created in compositing to reduce the pen-millage on the 2D animation.

GREENPEACE

Annie awarded commercial for Greenpeace that went viral upon release. It went viral for a second time when Iceland Food planned to use it as their Christmas campaign stating that their products are free from palm oil, but it was banned from airing. In animation circuits it got huge recognition for the unique style.

ALLERGY PILLS

The project that served as the initial playground for our techniques. During which we came up with ways of doing things both in the clean-up stage in TVPaint. And then how to make the most of the information available once reaching compositing.

Our plan is to start releasing projects and breakdowns individually across social media platforms to create an interest. We have enough material saved up for weekly posts to last a several months.

A few studios have shown interest in in collaboration with us on bigger projects and we hope more will come after this marketing push. Below are two things we are working on without the involvement of other studios.

SHORT FILM

As a first step in proving the techniques work on longer formats, we are developing an 11 minute short film. So far we have made the animatic and character development. Currently we are cleaning up a test shot to do compositing on. A style frame is provided to the below.

SHOWING IT WORKS IN 3D

We have started a test on Pinkuu in order to show that our techniques work no matter the source material. It is currently on hold until May 30th due to client work. But we were able to get it started with a simple model. The things that currently differ between the 2D and 3D are simple adjustments needed on the 3D mesh.
